The Lake District is a rural area in North West England covering approximately 2,292km² (885miles²). The Lake District mountain range is home to the only land in England over three thousand feet above sea level and contains Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.
The Lakes is a popular holiday destination for many walkers and caters for a diverse range of abilities. The features visible today are the result of glaciation, the most recent period of which ended 15,000 years ago.
This site is dedicated to providing walkers and climbers with information that will help them gain the most from their visits to the Lake District. The site has been designed with a community centred approach. If you decide to become a member, there are many opportunities to participate. These include, discussion forums, adding photos, routes, comments. You can also rate photos, routes and accommodation, helping others make informed choices. Members can also contact each other using the private messaging facility and keep accurate logs of their climbs.
This is achieved by allowing users to record their experiences and participate in discussions through the forums and private messaging facilities.
Should you choose to become a member, you can participate by submitting images, comments against mountains, new routes, and route reviews. Additionally you can record the mountains you have climbed in your own log, including date, time and your notes.
